Brazil confirms more yellow fever cases; over 100 infected


Authorities in Brazil's Sao Paulo state say three more people have died from yellow fever, adding to an outbreak that has seen more than 100 cases.

The majority of cases are in the southeastern state of Minas Gerais, where authorities acquired confirmed 97 cases since Friday. Of those, forty died.

The Health Division of Sao Paulo on Monday said it has now confirmed six situations of the disease, four of whom became contaminated in Minas Gerais. All the patients died. The condition of Espirito Santo has also recorded one circumstance.

Much of Brazil is recognized as at risk for green fever, but the country has not seen this large an outbreak since 2000. The World Overall health Organization has said it expects the mosquito-borne to spread to more areas.
